Long Island's name says it all. It is a very long island extending about 86 miles, but only a mere 4 miles wide at its widest point. Queen's Highway runs for close to 80 miles, through about a dozen or more main settlements.
A towering spine of ancient reef gives Long Island, Bahamas, two faces: the dramatic cliffs and caves of the east coast that front the crashing Atlantic waves, and the soft, sandy edged lee side which slides calmly into the Bahamas Bank. Long Island has numerous shallow and deep dive sites, but is best known for Dean’s Blue Hole, the deepest recorded blue hole in The Bahamas (more than 600 feet).
