Promoting better security and safety tactics is a solution to the problem of burglaries and robberies in Coppell. According to Alarm.org, more than 30% of burglars enter simply through an unlocked door or window. Also, 90% of convicted robbers that speak out have told officers that they would not break into home with a security system. To begin the promoting of better tactics, we could simply advertise through local tv and signs and let people know of the dangers of robberies. Some things we would advertise would be the dangers of break ins and also ways to prevent them. From the statement above, you can see that simply owning an alarm system and locking the entry points of your home could keep burglars out and therefore decrease our main problem of crime rates.
Advertising locally costs can vary, but in Coppell, we can put down signs next to roads that can pass on the information while also staying cheap. However, for this solution to work, we need people to understand what's actually going on around here. Coppell may seem like a safe city, but that doesn't mean you can't be a victim of a crime. People must take action in making their city safer. This is done by promoting safer tactics and simply reporting suspicious activity. Overall, this solution would be easy and cheap to implement as well as it would be effective if people followed through and listened. Crime is a problem and even though crime will never disappear, there are easy ways that people in Coppell can lower the crime rates even further.
