Paragraph 2

To successfully achieve a dream or goal constant continuation is necessary. The individual must keep moving into the future with the goals and decisions, when having a dream one wishes to complete. Throughout the novel Nick continues to move forward with his job and warns Gatsby of his decisions of the past he is making. In the end of the Great Gatsby a majority of the characters have experienced some tragedy resulting from them chasing the past. Differing from his fellow characters Nick is always moving into the future and comes out in the end more successful than he was in the beginning. In the novel, The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls she tells her memories from her tough childhood to adulthood. She goes through many struggles in the novel a main one being huge money struggles. Instead of just accepting the poverty Jeannette comes up with a plan to balance her family’s money and eventually goes on to become a successful reporter in New York. Even when times got really tough and setbacks came to get in the way Jeannette always continued with her goals. She never just settled for poverty or tried to go to the past she just looked to the future which allowed her to accomplish her hopes and dreams. Goals cannot be achieved in the past, but only in the future.
