Religion

The Zhou dynasty religion was based on a faith that worshiped phenomena like wind and rain, this dynasty also the first to ban human sacrifice. The Zhou religion was more intellectual and mystical, for example: the three realms of deities were heavenly spirits, terrestrial forces and human ancestors. The Zhou Dynasty believed the king was chosen to keep the gods happy. If the gods were not happy they would show signs of displeasure such as, droughts, bad storms, and natural disasters. If the king failed in his duties, then the people could overthrow him. Daoism was also a belief of The Zhou Dynasty, this complicated religion was known as “the way”, if everyone does the right thing and follows their heart there doesn’t have to be harsh consequences. The religion also spurred the “Yin and Yang” they combined the good and the bad and believed that to have both will make you balanced. This belief is still in practice today.
