Changes in Texas
On February 19, President Anson Jones gave his address of farewell and the people of Texas celebrated its new statehood in the U.S. Many others the event as a homecoming since they had moved to Texas from the U.S.
Many of the people were familiar with its government, customs, money system, and language. But Texas was still a frontier state. The Texas frontier line stretched several hundred miles from the Red River to the Rio Grande. The life living on the frontier has always been challenging and dangerous. Later on, Texas' industry and towns grew.
