For me to be able to be elected as consul I had to be a citizen. To be a citizen you had to be native born from Rome. Only men above the are of 15 are allowed to be citizens. Women and slaves are not citizens because men are dominant and slaves are not native born, they were conquered people. Since I am native born male from Rome I am allowed to participate in government.
January 27, 508 BCE
Citizens are allowed to vote, marry freely, and practice commerce. Some citizens can't hold public office considering their social status. Only patricians are allowed in the Senate or are allowed to be consuls. The plebeians still hold the right of citizenship, but can't participate in major government transactions. Plebians, patricians, and slaves are only allowed to marry within their own social class. Slowly the plebeians are gaining more of a role in government.
