Oasis

- An oasis is formed in the desert where the elevation is low and water tables underground are close to the surface. This produces springs, which make the ground fertile and allow for some vegetation to grow.
- If a person were to be trekking across a desert for a long period of time, an oasis would provide a rest stop for the person to get some shade and hydration.
- Small villages or towns may develop around an oasis because it allows for human life to thrive in an extreme environment.
