Succession

Pioneer species is linked to primary succession. Because there is no soil for actual plants to grow in.

Lichens will be the very first things to appear because they don't need soil and can break down rocks to make soil

Mosses would be the next ones to appear because they need little nutrients or soil

And grasses would be the last of the pioneer species because they need a little soil which mosses and lichens can provide
