Succession

Primary succession occurs in an area that is devoid of vegetation and normally lacking soil suck as a lava flow. Where the first vegetation would be the pioneer species such as lichen and mosses the comes the grasses and shrubs.

Secondary succession is when there is an Ecosystem already working and past the pioneer stages and into the trees and it gets cut back down to the dirt it could be because of a forest fire or clear cutting.
