Emphasis is also known as the "center of interest" or "focal point." In this picture, the brightly colored abstract painting in the middle of the room is the emphasis. The painting creates order and draws attention to one main focus. After the eye is first drawn to the painting, it then allows rhythm to draw the eye out to the rest of the room. Since the focal point is brightly colored and the rest of the room is very monochromatic, after the eye is done looking at the painting, it is drawn out to the rest of the bland room.
