There was no kind of education system in Texas when it had become a state. That was a major problem. To solve it, Governor Elisha M. Pease signed a law that put $2 million into a special school fund. Even after that, schools were lacking money. Only a few public schools were made. Soon enough, the Permanent School Fund was created in 1876, and it ensures that there will also be money for the future of education. Now, 138 years later, the Permanent School Fund has over $20 billion.
Education
