Virtue Ethics
Virtue is both a means and an end. It is a means because life without it would be painful, but an end because it is desired disinterestedly.
Virtue is the genus of a state, and it's function is happiness. Life is defined through a series of virtues and vices.
Virtue is similar to duty. It should be desired disinterestedly purely for the solve motive of duty (or virtue).
