In Conclusion...
♥ Utilitarianism has both it's strengths and weaknesses. It can help solve ethical problems in society with the mindset that happiness is the human end and actions that promote pleasure and mitigate pain are good will. It is focused on the consequences of an action, and not at all on the motive. It almost seems more appealing than virtue ethics and deontology because it appeals to the human desire to happy, which is innate in all of us. However, if utilitarianism is simply taken for face value without in-depth study, it can be misinterpreted easily. Utilitarianism is simply about the promotion of pleasure and mitigation of pain, which, in itself, is happiness.
