Changes in Texas.

President Anson Jones gave his farewell address on February 19, 1846, celebrating Texas' statehood. Though Texas was familiar with the government, customs, and currency, Texas was still a frontier state. Very few texans lived west of the frontier line, which stretched several hundred miles from the Red River to the Rio Grande.
