Transportation

In the 1850 most Texans continued to ride on horseback or in wagons, and they weren't seeing improvement. Sand banks and other obstruction made boat travel impossible in most of Texas, except on the Rio Grande where regular shipping was established during the Mexican War. Another exception was in East Texas where small boats could travel in the spring and fall. Most Texas towns were served by stage coach at the time. Then in 1850, Texas began to lay down railroad tracks. By 1860 the railroad was completed.
