The Waynes were similar to any other large family-if one discounts the massive volume of fan mail arriving daily, requiring secretaries to work at the home to sort through it all, and Wayne’s periodic lengthy absences to go make movies. Otherwise, the daily routine involved lots of chess, cards, and board games; big dinners with family and friends; station wagon trips to the hardware store, the drug store, and the supermarket; plus chores, home maintenance, and loads of school work.
Newport Beach
In 1965, The Waynes moved into a spacious ranch house on Bayshore Drive in Newport Beach, where, when they were young, the Wayne children recall living a fairly typical life.
