For many years, John Wayne borrowed copies of new feature films from his contacts at studios and invited friends and family to watch them-an always popular event at the family home. On November 11, 1977, for example, the Waynes and their friends gathered to watch Star Wars and Heroes in the den, and on March 10, 1978, they enjoyed a triple feature-Annie Hall, Smokey and the Bandit, and High Anxiety.

John Wayne’s office/den, where he had a projection system installed, was a frequent gathering site for “movie night at the Wayne’s,” and not just to watch John Wayne movies.
