Agriculture: Monsoons

Irrigation was extremely important for the maintain ace of all the crops because of the monsoons. In the spring and summer there are warm, moist winds from the southwest that bring the rainfall. In the fall and winter, there are cool, dry winds from the northeast. The land requires a good watering from the southern monsoon and irrigation supplements it in the dry season. If the rain is light that year the irrigation system runs short of water which leads to droughts, reduced harvests, and famine.
