Trade: Items

Most regions were self sufficient in basic crops like rice, wheat, barley, and millet. Iron came from the Ganges River valley, copper from the Deccan, salt from the costal regions, and pepper from the south. Pepper, saffron, and sugar were used in subcontinental trade, and sometimes even rice to the north.
