Analysis- I observed many different principals of design and elements of art but the main ones I found were movement, space, and texture. Texture was a big part of the painting. It was evident in the mountains, waves, sand, and rocks. Without this the painting would be plain. Bbt with it you can tell the difference between the different elements in the painting. Space was used well showing dimension by overlapping the people and some of the bridge. Finally movement was displayed through the water, the ship in the water, and the horse drawn carriage. The ship is gliding through the water. The water against the rocks in the shore show the water moving. The carriage shows what direction everything is moving.

Description- There is a sail boat in the background to the left. there are also people on horse-back near the rocky water. There are bridges leading to the water from the mountain. The sky is gray looking like its about to rain. To the right back of the painting. Boats are on the land facing away from the water.

Artist: Claude Monet

Title: La Pointe de la Heve at Low Tide

Date: 1865

Medium: Oil on canvas

Provance: Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth, USA

Source: www.monetalia.com/paintings/monet-the-pointe-de-la-heve-at-the-low-tide.aspx

Interpretation- I think this painting is about running away and being free. I think this because the carriages were mostly only needed for long voyages and leaving somewhere. The blackness of the sky tells me it isn't going well and the ship in the far left tells me something bad is about to happen

Judgement- In my opinion I think the painting is a little dark but the story is explained well enough for you to know why it's dark. I think Monet used his elements of art and principals of design very well.
