Social: Social role: backbone of medieval Europe. They made food and other products that were needed. Supported the nobility and made feudalism possible. Lowest level in society.
-Work several days a week farming their Lord’s land.
-Repaired roads, bridges, and fences.
-Paid lords when they inherited father’s land or used mill and had to pay Lord several times a year

Serfs: Most peasants were serfs and were bound to the land. They weren't slaves but couldn’t leave the land and not free.
Guilds: Association of merchants or artisans that upheld the standards of their trade and protected their economic interests.
