Cortes Conquers the Aztecs

in the late 1400s Spanish explorers arrived in the americas. They came to explore, search for gold, and spread their religion. A group of conquistadors led by Hernan Cortes reached Mexico in 1519. The emperor, Moctezuma II believed him to be a god sinced he looked like one. He sent gold and gifts to Cortes. When Cortez reached the Aztec Empire he captured Moctezuma II. The Aztecs attacked, but the emperor was killed in the confusion
