Major events against Gypsies started in 1710 when Joesph II of Russia ordered that all Romani adults were to be hanged without trail, and the women and children be banned forever from the Holy Roman Empire.

By now the Gypsies were spread all over Europe.

In addition, they had both ears cut off in Bohemia. In Austria they were branded on the back with a gallow.
