The Bergen-Belsen camp was established by German authorities in a location about 11 miles north of Celle, Germany.
The Nazi's created Bergen-Belsen in Lower Saxony as a transit center in April 1943.
It was unique in different ways, but it was still a camp where thousands were suffering and dying under the terrible conditions Nazi leadership provided.
