Strength Training

Primarily uses ATP-PCR energy system

Most effective to use both Eccentric (lengthening) and Concentric (shortening) contractions to see greatest strength gains

Isometric / Static contractions are ideal for recovery of immobilized limbs in a rehab setting

Strengthening Programs

Plyometrics: Jump Training

Variable-Resistance Training: Resistance greatest in strongest ROM, least in weakest ROM

Isokinetic Training: Movement at a constant speed, regardless of force generated

Core Stability Training: Increases muscle spindle sensitivity, may decreases chance of injury
