Mountain
Most mountains are formed when two tectonic plates crash into each other (convergent plate boundary) and push the crust upwards. Some are created when earth's magma pushes up and creates a bulge, but doesn't actually crack through. So, the magma eventually hardens and turns to rock.
Mountains affect people in many ways, but there are two main ones. First, one side of a mountain can be extremely cold and have a high amount of precipitation, while the other side of the mountain is warm and dry. This is due to the mountain blocking clouds and winds from traveling to the other side. Second, they are a barrier to people that prevents some people from traveling into another country or even state.
