Most islands are formed from the buildup of lava, that is cooled after each eruption. Constant eruptions cause the island to grow more and more.

First, islands are great places for tourists to visit because of the scenery and the surrounding ocean. Second, islands have very fertile soil for farming because of the freshness from volcanic eruption.
