-Describe: A man dressed in a navy suit kissing a woman wearing yellow gloves, a red bonnet, and printed dress as they dance. Table with cups, chairs, and other materials in the right middle of the painting. Plant in the upper right hand corner. Perhaps a fireplace to the left left the image. Vibrant colors suggest a calm and joyful mood to this image.
-Analyze: Triangle shape made between the lady's fan, her bonnet, and the mans shoes.
Strikingly dark navy creates the focal point of the man dancing. Smooth texture on almost everything, frilly and wrinkled texture on lady's dress. Negative space in the lower left hand corner. Radial balance. Proportionate. The man and woman seem to be moving judging by there stance.
-Interpret: The triangle shape made between the lady's fan, her bonnet, and the mans shoes almost makes a heart shaped triangle which represents the two people's unity and love. The smooth texture of the man's suit and the frilly texture on the woman's dress represents the beautiful masculine and feminine bond. The proportionate and radial balance represents the two people as a balanced whole. The two people seem to be dancing which represents a fluid, rhythmic romance.
- Judgement: I feel drawn into this work but mostly because I am an old-fashioned hopeless romantic. The visual expressions on both characters faces in this painting is heart touching. The painting is appealing to the eye because it is full of vibrant colors and a joyful mood. The artist (or should I say author) did a wonderful job of communicating the romantic and content content of this artwork.
