1. War of 1812

A war between the U.S. And Great Britain which lasted over 2 years. It was declared by the U.S. because of trade restrictions and the impressment of American sailors among other things.

2. Native American Attacks

Britain gave weapons to Native American tribes during the War and encouraged them to attack American settlers.

3. National Banks

The charter for the 1st National Bank expired in 1811 and was never renewed. After one failed attempt at instating a 2nd National Bank and a war with Britain that had proved difficult to fund without a national bank, Madison finally allowed the creation of a 2nd National Bank.
