Lightening

ON SCALP:

cream enlighteners are most common because

they are strong enough for high lift blonding (used for regrowth touch ups)

and still gentle enough to put directly on the scalp,

and mixed with activators (boosters)to decrease the processing time

OFF SCALP:

powdered enlighteners are most common

(some are specifically for off the scalp,

others are designed for on the scalp for double processing)

they are the fastest, strongest acting enlightener

typically used for foiling, and can expand as it processes

tips:

-the darker the hair, the longer it will take to lift

-tone of hair influences the necessary processing time (the greater percentage of red, the harder it is to lift to a pale yellow)

-heat accelerates processing time, so hair closest to the scalp will lift faster than the midlengths
