Working As A Teacher...

She was only 17...

At a young age of 17, Clara began to work as a school teacher in the summer. Soon school started hiring her to teach in the winter as well. She was payed less than male teacher. She said " I would not do a man's work for less than a man's pay". After the that they started paying her the full payment.

After Working At A School...

She went to college in New York and graduated in 1851. At first she worked at a private school and then decided to work on opening a free public school.
