-After the ER transport vesicles go to the Golgi Apparatus
- They are flattened sacs that are stacked on top of each other
- Cells only have a few or hundreds of Golgi stacks
- Golgi Apparatus was named after an Italian physician and biologist names Camilo Golgi
- He had a hypothesis membranous organelle and other animal and plant cells
- The amount stacks are according to the amount of activity in the cells secreting proteins, a process started in rough ER.
- It functions as a molecular warehouse receiving and modifying things that are created by the ER.
- One side of the Golgi body takes in the transport vesicles made by ER.
- The other side of the Golgi body releases the vesicles and they go off to other sites
