Building a Community
Jacob Elsas played a role not only in the building of the mill community, but the greater Atlanta community. He was instrumental in the founding of the Georgia Institute of Technology. His son Oscar and grandson William attended the school. Elsas' activities also extended to philanthropy, particularly in the support of the Grand Opera House, the Hebrew Orphan's Home, and Grady Hospital.
