Desdemona- Desdemona also showed a lot of emotion in the tragedy. In the beginning, when explaining to her father and the council the reasons behind her marriage to Othello, she showed a lot of emotion, and that she was passionate about him. She also displays a level of reason as she knows exactly what to say to her father in order for him to approve even remotely of the marriage.
Character Analysis cont.
Roderigo- Roderigo’s passion towards Desdemona also lead to his own downfall. Because of his obsession with Desdemona, Roderigo was “blinded” with Iago’s hopeful words and tricked into helping in his plots against Othello and Cassio. He was not thinking straight, being lead by his own selfish desires and his emotions; the favoring of one at the expense of the other. However, later on in the tragedy, he seems to regain his reason as he catches into Iago’s plots, and confronts him, but then loses it again as he is once again tricked through his passion through Iago’s proposition.
