John Dalton

John Dalton was born September 6th,1766 and died July 27th, 1844, he was a British scientist who contributed a lot to the fields of study and to atomic theory. He became a mathematics and philosophy teacher in Manchester after being denied a position in university. Due to his colourblindness he was only able to see one colour which was yellow. Dalton stated that:

1. The total pressure of combined gases is equal to the partial pressures of each of those gases separately

2. Published a listing of atomic weights for six different elements: hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, sulfur, and phosphorous

3. Chemical combinations happen between particles of different atomic weights

4. Atoms are combined in chemical reactions, but also that they can be separated and rearranged

5. Atoms themselves could not be separated or created

There are a couple more things that John Dalton discovered in his time of being a scientist.
