War on Terror

Less than a month after the attacks of September 11, 2001, the United States launched the War on Terror. This launched America into an invasion of Afghanistan. The reason for this invasion was that members of the Afghan government were harboring the leader of the terrorist group that attacked the United States on that day, the are known as al-Qaeda. The government group that supported them was known as the Taliban and they did many things to help al-Qaeda. One big thing that the Taliban did to help was to train new soldiers for the terrorist group. Knowing that the Taliban were military trained, it was easy to train new soldiers quickly for the terrorists. Another thing that the Taliban did to help al-Qaeda was to protect Osama bin Laden. Osama was the leader of al-Qaeda at the time so protecting him was like saying that the Taliban worked for the group. So, for this reason, the United States had to put an end to the Taliban group by force.
