When Ishmael Beah was 12 years old, his village was invaded when he's was away in a raping group with friends. Before the invasion, he lived a happy childhood. He, his family and friends had went from village to village trying to survive. They did things they thought they wouldn't such as steal food from children. He was forced to become a soldier and the others were blamed for his family. He was furious and became a killing machine, taking out many innocent lives as revenge.
