-They were technologically advanced as a result of their wealth

-Ghana consisted of two towns that lie on a plane

-One of them was inhabited by Muslims and is very large

The Culture of Mali...

-Arose from the ashes of the Ghana civilization

-Mansa Musa brought many Muslim architects and scholars back from Mecca.

-This lead to the heavy influence of Islam in the Mali civilization.

-Both Mali and Ghana people would lead a normal Muslim life involving pilgrimages, hajj, and almsgiving

-Mansa Musa's pilgrimage put on display the wealth of Mali and therefore attracted more traders. And with more traders and merchants there was a higher need for education which drove the culture to be one of great intellect for the time.

-Because of their knowledge, they were amazing scholars at studying the Qur'an. However, they lacked struck discipline in following the laws of the Muslim religion and the Muslim moral code.
