Decomposition is the process of decaying and rotting into smaller and smaller objects.
Decomposition and the Nitrogen Cycle
Decomposition is related to the nitrogen cycle because when plants, animals,or other matter is decomposed it goes into the ground.the nitrogen from that matter Is released back into the ground keeping the cycle going.

Nitrogen is important to living things because nitrogen is a component in all amino acids that make proteins, and nucleic acids, that compromise the hereditary material and life's cells, and in many other organic and inorganic compounds. Also nitrogen makes up about 80% of the Earth's atmosphere. It is essential to life.
