Diseases in the trenches during WWI

Trench Fever

Trench was a disease spread by body lice during WWI. This disease was easily passed between the soldiers. It's symptoms include high fever, headaches, aching muscles and sores on the skin. Trench fever usually took 12 weeks to recover from and many soldiers suffered from trench fever mote than once.

Trench Foot

To the left is an image of a condition suffered by trench soldiers called trench foot. This condition was caused by standing in water and mud for longer periods of time, which caused the soldiers to lose blood circulation in their foot. In worst case scenarios soldiers would have to have their feet amputated.
