Edwards, Bob. Edward R. Murrow and the Birth of Broadcast Journalism. Hoboken, NJ: Wiley, 2004. Print.

1943

Text

After a year of waiting for the opportunity, Edward gets to observe British bombers over Berlin on December 2nd, 1943. However, this visit to Berlin was considered confidential and he could only tell his wife, Janet, "Last night some young gentleman of the RAF took me to Berlin." after he came back.

On the ride back to America, Edward recorded his "Orchestrated Hell" broadcast.

Here pictured is London damage after German bombing.
