What is a portrait?

A portrait is a representation of someone, it is supposed to show who the person is (Picasso would draw some one with a certain shape according to his personality).Portraits of medieval times did not capture the actual self but made persons look more powerful. Nowadays most artists portray persons the way they think they are.
