Decision 2- Running

Political Experience : Helped with his fathers campaigns: the Senate race in 1964, House campaign in 1966, and second bid for Senate in 1970. Helped as a traveling aid for congressman Edward Gurney, who was running for Senate in Florida. In 1976 he volunteered on President Ford's West Texas operation in the Republican primary. He helped him win a total of 0 delegates and in 1968 Bush started flight training.

George W. Bush, Presidential term

Governor of Texas from January 17, 1995 - December 21, 2000. Resigned in middle of second term to become president of the U.S.


Goals: Before he decided to run for presidency George W. Bush had a set of goals he wanted to accomplish : cut taxes, raise standards in public schools, reform Social Security & Medicare, rally faith based charities, and lift the sights of American people by encouraging a new era of personal responsibility .

Decided to run as congressman however he lost to Congressman Kent Hance.

"I learned that allowing your opponent to define you is one of the biggest mistakes you

can make in a campaign."

He temporarily moved to Lubbock, an important hub for cotton business and home to Texas Tech. University while running for congress.
