George McGovern - R. Sargent Shriver (democratic)
- people realized quickly that McGovern was too liberal (he had ran an anti-war campaign). He was portrayed as a radical for his first choice of Vp Thomas Eagleton, who had a history of mental illness issues. He later choosed Striver, but it didn't benefit Mcgovern's campaign.
- Nixon wanted a good economy and talked about his success with foreign affairs. He was portrayed as stable and secure, which Americans wanted.
