Prognosis and Treatment of Muscular Dystrophy

Prognosis:

• Mild cases may progress slowly over a normal lifespan.

• Others my suffer from extreme muscle weakness, functional disability, and loss of the ability to walk.

• Some children may die in infancy but others live to adulthood with moderate disability.

Treatment:

• Exercises for range of motion and stretching

• Aerobic and strengthening exercises

• Braces

• Mobility aids

• Breathing assistance
