SOMA- The Strokes
This song represents the theme of drug usage that is displayed throughout the novel. In Brave New World, drugs, specifically Soma, were used to escape any moment of dissatisfaction. This created a "perfect" society in which no one was unhappy. Soma was distributed by the government so the citizens of the New World were conditioned to rely on it and constantly use it. An example of how much the people relied on Soma can be found in how John's mother, Linda, wanted to leave the Reservation so badly so that she could take Soma again. She did not care about anything, not even her son, except for the drug and depended on it until she died.
