Summarize society of New Guinea, Australia and Polynesia
In the societies of New Guinea, Australia, and Polynesia, each society had it’s own way of forming an economy. Areas of Oceania such as Polynesia, were more focused on farming in their economy. For regions of Oceania such as Australia and New Guinea, their economy was more reliant on hunting and gathering. The social groups within the Oceanic areas were called tribes or clans which were typically made up of extended family members. The tribes that were in the societies of Oceania were semi-nomadic, meaning that they migrated periodically between settlements. Each tribe/clan would control of a portion of land within whatever island they were settled on. Often times tribes/clans would control a whole island or even multiple islands.
