The historic skyscraper reached the sky. It’s exterior left me in awe, the only building that stood alone in dignity. I wanted to go up so bad. But I had no ticket. Once again, I hid my face in the map pamphlet. But I had noticed that something had fell out of it in a hidden pocket that I had not recognized before. It was an express ticket that would automatically take me to the top of the of tower without having the hassle of waiting in line. It was just my luck, (probably the only good thing that has happened to me all day). I knew I had to find my parents, but visiting the number one icon in New York was pretty hard to pass up. My family could hold off a few minutes. I handed my ticket to the guard, and he began to escort me through the crowd. It was a busy day for the building. People looked at me in jealous envy; if I had waited in line, it would have taken hours by the looks of it. The guard pressed the up button for the elevator and were met with three other guards inside.
“Hey Charlie, did you know there’s a ferry today that’s going to take tourists from the harbor to the ChinaTown? It’s the first time they’re putting out this attraction.”
“No I didn’t, but that’s quite a tour, if you ask me. Anyone and everyone should be able to take advantage of that tour,” another guard replied.
My heart almost sunk when I heard this.
“Where can I sign up for this attraction?” I blurted out.
The guards were shocked for a second. “Well for you lil’ lady, since you have this ticket, you can use it because it goes towards both attractions. We can take you to the ferry if you’d like.”
A great smile began to form on my face. “That would be wonderful! Thank you so much!”
The elevator dinged.
“But first mad’am, enjoy the view.”
The view was breathtaking. It was a whole new perspective. I could see the whole entire city from where I was standing. Buildings, parks, and cars, every little thing was visible. It made me realize how big the city is. It was everything I had hoped for. After admiring the view for a few more minutes, I nodded towards the guard that let him know that I was ready to go.
