Drama is enacted (put on a stage), it is a literary but also a representational art.
A play can be read, but it has been written essentially to be performed by actors and seen by audiences.
Drama usually tells a story: so, similarly to the novel, it has a plot (and sub-plot), some characters (protagonist, antagonist, round or flat ones), a setting and a theme (or the subject matter of the story).
