Characters are usually common people, belonging to different social classes. They are funny. They are used to ridicule human defects and follies.

Plots are quite complicated: they present some kind of conflicts or problems to solve, which through a happy turn of events are finally solved and lead to the happy ending (a marriage or a reunion).

Language is more colloquial and informal, rich of puns, irony and satire.
